About This Release
“States of Exception” is our second original material. It was released shortly after “Mechanically Recovered Meat”. We were very keen to release new material and thus we had choosen the EP format for it.
“States of Exception” is pure aggrotech or dark electro, with screaming vocals and disco-like dark synth lines. The music is dance oriented and made with dark dancefloors in mind.
What makes it different from the most of other dark electronic releases is the fact, that the vocals are relatively little distorted or processed. They are also not hidden in the background, but occupy roughly 50% of musical space. We believe that audible vocals are one of the Bodycall’s strong points.
The title is a reference to situation, where external threat becomes an excuse to restrict freedom of individuals. The lyrics layer of this release explores the subject of fragility of freedom and thin border between democracy and tyrany.
